Providing a fascinating insight into the rebirth and early development of what has become one of the country's leading tourist attractions, this programme tells the story of the Severn Valley Railway using original personal 8mm cine film of some early members and visitors. It shows how a group of young enthusiasts had a dream and, against all the odds, made that dream a reality.

Scenes include the last days of BR steam at Hartlebury, Bewdley, Foley Park and Kidderminster; the special on 19th Sept 1965 featuring 3442 The Great Marquess, and 1420 and 4555 which are seen on the main line and the Severn Valley branch as far north as Alverley sidings; the first visit to the derelict line in July 1965 of the newly formed Society and early scenes at Bridgnorth, Hampton Loade, Highley and Bewdley.  3205 is seen at Stourbridge shed and arriving at Bridgnorth. This is followed later by the arrival of 46443, Railcar No 22 in BR green livery and, in 1968, 43106. Many of the weekend events are featured and unusual movements of locos and stock are also seen.

The DVD contains an informative commentary set to authentic sounds and wonderful theme music. It concludes with events of the weekend of May 23rd 1970 which featured the reopening train and first official steam passenger service from Bridgnorth to Hampton Loade.
